Mito Mind   Community

TM

A different way to think about mental health starts here...

Join a supportive community exploring how food, brain energy and everyday habits can help us feel and function better - one manageable step at a time.

The MitoMind community brings together the Brain Energy Reboot course, weekly live health coaching and Q&A, practical resources, and a welcoming group of people who want to take a more active role in their own wellbeing.

You do not need to understand all the science. You do not need to have everything figured out. You just need to be curious about what might be possible - and willing to begin.

What if there is more you can do?

Perhaps you have been told that medication is the main - or only - way to manage your mental health.

Perhaps you sense that food, sleep, stress, movement and the way your body creates energy matter too, but you are not sure where to begin.

Or perhaps you have already tried to make changes, only to become overwhelmed by conflicting advice or find it difficult to keep going on your own.

MitoMind Community was created to offer another way forward: one that puts metabolic health and brain energy at the centre, while recognising that mental health is complex and that everyone’s path is different.

This is not about rejecting medication or conventional care. It is about widening the conversation - and helping you discover the simple, practical things you can do to support your brain and body alongside any care you already receive.

Why I created the MitoMind Community

I believe there is a different way of thinking about mental health - one that puts metabolic health at the centre and recognises food and our daily habits as powerful tools for change.

Medication can be valuable and, for some people, essential. But it should not be the only conversation. We also need to talk about how the brain gets and uses energy, and how the things we do each day can influence the way we think, feel and function.

I created MitoMind Community as a place where people can come together to learn, ask questions, share their experiences and support one another as they explore this approach.

Although I am the health coach guiding the community, I am also part of it. I do not stand outside it with a perfect life or all the answers. I am learning, putting the principles into practice and navigating the realities of everyday life too.

My role is to bring trusted information, practical guidance and thoughtful coaching - and to help create the conditions in which all of us can learn from one another.

Together, we can make small shifts, build supportive routines and create foundations that make life feel easier - not changes that take over our lives, but changes that help us live them more fully.

Moira Newiss, Nutritional Therapist and Health Coach

A place to learn, belong and move forward

MitoMind Community is a place where you can:

  • understand the connection between your metabolism, mitochondria, brain energy and mental wellbeing;

  • learn how to begin a ketogenic way of eating safely and practically;

  • explore simple daily habits that support steadier energy, clearer thinking and greater resilience;

  • ask questions without feeling that you should already know the answer;

  • share what you are learning and learn from the real experiences of others;

  • find encouragement when things feel difficult or progress is slower than you hoped;

  • experiment, reflect and discover what works for you; and

  • take back a sense of choice and agency in your own life.

This is not about chasing perfection. It is about building knowledge, confidence and momentum - together.

Everything you need to learn - and support to put it into practice

The Brain Energy Reboot Course

A step-by-step course that helps you understand brain energy and begin making changes without trying to do everything at once.

You will learn:

  • why metabolic health matters to the brain;

  • how to prepare for and begin a ketogenic way of eating;

  • how to build satisfying meals from real, nutrient-dense foods;

  • how to recognise and respond to common challenges;

  • how sleep, light, stress, movement and connection can make change easier;

  • how to track your experience, learn from it and decide on your next step.

You can work through the course at your own pace and return to it whenever you need a refresher.

Practical tools to help you take action

handouts fan .png

Knowing what to do is only the beginning. The course includes practical resources to help you turn ideas into manageable actions:

  • clear handouts and guides;

  • goal planners;

  • simple action cards;

  • symptom and progress trackers;

  • checklists;

  • prompts to help you review what is working and what needs adjusting.

A live coaching and Q&A call every week

Bring your questions, share a challenge or simply listen and learn. These weekly sessions give you regular access to guidance, encouragement and the wisdom of the group.

The weekly calls are not recorded, helping members feel able to speak openly and protecting the privacy of personal conversations.

Community support between calls

Change rarely happens during a single lesson or appointment. It happens in the choices, questions and small wins of ordinary days.

Our discussion spaces give you somewhere to ask for help, share what you have discovered, celebrate progress and receive encouragement from people who understand why this matters.

Occasional sessions with guest experts

From time to time, I will invite other experts to explore relevant topics and answer members’ questions. These teaching sessions will be recorded so you can watch them later.

The MitoMind Method spaces

Explore and get support, in specific chats in the community, with the foundations that help your brain and body work well, including:

  • nutrient-dense real food;

  • living a ketogenic lifestyle;

  • sleep and circadian rhythm;

  • stress management;

  • movement, heat, cold and other helpful challenges;

  • reducing unhelpful exposures; and

  • building connection and getting the people around you on board.

The Science of Brain Energy and Mitochondria

For those who want to understand more, dedicated spaces for discussion make the science accessible and relevant. We will explore what the latest research may mean in real life, including metabolism, mitochondria, inflammation, hormones, the gut–brain connection, medication and more.

You can go as deeply into the science as you wish. Curiosity is welcome, but no scientific background is required.

Learn. Try. Notice. Adjust.

  1. Learn the foundations through the Brain Energy Reboot Course.

  2. Choose one manageable next step using the planners, cards and checklists.

  3. Try it in your own life without needing to be perfect.

  4. Notice what changes with your health using simple tracking tools.

  5. Ask questions and get support in the community and weekly call.

  6. Adjust and build from there as your confidence grows.

The aim is not to follow a rigid formula. It is to understand the principles well enough to make informed choices that fit your needs, circumstances and goals.

A safe, kind and curious community

gathering.png

Although we don't meet in person at present, it is a goal that Moira has in mind -  to try and have an in-person gathering - at some point in the future.

We are building the kind of community many of us have been looking for: one where people feel heard, respected and able to be themselves.

Inside MitoMind Community:

  • every thoughtful question is welcome;

  • we listen without judgement;

  • we respect different experiences, needs and choices;

  • we share personal experiences without presenting them as prescriptions for everyone;

  • we encourage progress rather than perfection;

  • we protect one another’s privacy; and

  • we make room for hope while staying honest about challenges.

You are welcome to participate in the way that feels comfortable. You can join conversations, ask questions, share your experience - or begin quietly by listening and learning.

MitoMind Community may be right for you if…

  • you are curious about the connection between metabolic and mental health;

  • you want practical help to begin a ketogenic way of eating;

  • you want to explore supportive routines for sleep, energy, stress and everyday life;

  • you value both science and lived experience;

  • you want guidance but also want to understand and shape your own path;

  • you would benefit from encouragement and connection with like-minded people;

  • you are supporting a family member and want to understand this approach better.

You do not need a particular diagnosis, and you do not need to be following a ketogenic diet already.

circadian rhythm.png

It may not be right for you if…

  • you are looking for individual medical diagnosis, treatment or crisis support;

  • your mental health is currently not stable;

  • you want a quick fix or guaranteed result;

  • you are unwilling to respect other members’ privacy and choices;

  • you want personalised nutrition advice;

  • you want to stop or change medication without working with the appropriate prescriber.

Your guide - and fellow member of the community

I am Moira Newiss, a BANT-registered Nutritional Therapist and Health Coach, former senior NHS manager and author of the book Mood, Mind & Mitochondria.

My work explores the links between metabolic health, mitochondria and mental wellbeing, and how ketogenic approaches and other simple daily practices may help people feel and function better.

I bring together emerging science, practical coaching and a deep respect for lived experience. I will guide the learning, answer questions within my professional scope and help you turn complex ideas into steps that feel realistic.

But this is not a community built around me having all the answers. It is a community built around shared curiosity, mutual support and the belief that each person deserves the knowledge and confidence to play an active part in their own wellbeing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be following a ketogenic diet before I join?

No. The Brain Energy Reboot Course is designed to help you understand the approach, prepare properly and begin step by step. You can also join simply to learn before deciding what is right for you.

Do I need to understand the science?

Not at all. I explain the key ideas in clear, everyday language. If you enjoy going deeper, there will also be plenty to explore in the Science of Brain Energy and Mitochondria spaces.

What if I feel nervous about posting in a group?

You are welcome to begin quietly. There is no pressure to disclose personal information or contribute before you feel ready. You can learn by reading discussions and listening during calls, then participate if and when it feels comfortable.

Are the weekly calls recorded?

No. Weekly coaching and Q&A calls are not recorded so members can speak more openly and personal conversations remain private. Guest expert teaching sessions will normally be recorded and made available to members.

Can I get personal nutrition or medical advice in the community?

No. The community provides education, coaching and peer support, not medical diagnosis, individual treatment, nutritional therapy, or emergency care. General questions are welcome, but personal medical decisions should be discussed with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional who knows your history. Moira offers one-to-one consultatations for nutritional therapy separately.

Can you advise me about my medication?

We can discuss general information about medication, metabolic health and questions you may wish to raise with your clinical team. The community will never encourage you to stop or alter medication on your own. Any change must be planned with the clinician responsible for prescribing it, as dietary and metabolic changes can sometimes affect medication needs.

Is a ketogenic diet suitable for everyone?

No single approach is right for everyone. Some health conditions, medicines and life stages require additional assessment and medical supervision. The course will help you recognise when to seek individual professional advice before making significant changes. Not everyone using ketogenic therapies finds it resolves their mental health or other health problems.

Is the community confidential?

We ask every member to keep personal stories and conversations within the group, and the weekly calls are not recorded. However, no online community can guarantee absolute confidentiality, so members should only share what they feel comfortable sharing.

How quickly should I expect results?

Everyone responds differently. Some people notice changes quickly, while for others progress is slower or takes a different form than expected. The community does not promise a particular outcome; it helps you learn, make informed changes and pay attention to your own experience.

How much time will I need?

You can move through the course at your own pace. The goal is to make useful changes that fit into your life - not to give you another demanding programme to keep up with.

Can family members or carers join?

Yes. Family members and carers who want to understand and respectfully support someone they care about are very welcome. Each person requires their own membership.

How long will I have access?

Your membership includes access to the course and community for as long as the period your subscription covers or as long as MitoMind Community continues to operate.

What is the cancellation or refund policy?

Please see here for the detailed terms and conditions.
