About Me
I am Moira Newiss, a Registered Nutritional Therapist and Wellbeing Coach. I have resolved my own health issues including chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety, depersonalisation, derealisation and an autoimmune condition, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I did this by understanding the science of nutrition and stress. I use a lower carbohydrate and sometimes very low carbohydrate (ketogenic) or carnivore diets to help reverse the root causes which include stabilising blood sugar and insulin, balancing hormones, healing the gut and eliminating food sensitivities. In addition I support people with stress reduction strategies. Together this is powerful lifestyle medicine.
A chronic condition does not mean you have to accept it for life.
Most chronic diseases are lifestyle related which means it is possible to reverse or put it into remission just like me and many of my clients have done. I will help you to understand what has gone wrong with the biology of your body, how to take simple steps to start a reboot, to get back your physical and mental energy and vitality, to lose weight (if you need to), to get resolve or reduce many different symptoms, to improve your mental health and start the transition to a new healthier you.
Why I'm the right practitioner for you
I experienced chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety and debilitating brain fog whilst pursuing a career as a senior manager in the NHS.
After battling on for a while I eventually reached a point of no return finding myself on the sofa every afternoon and struggling to look after my children, unable to cook the dinner or do the cleaning and no longer able to do my job effectively.
I felt detached like the world was going on around me, like the life had been drained out of me, I felt useless and a burden on my family.
All my tests were normal and my GP couldn't help me.

Unfortunately, and maybe partly as a result of my illness, my son (aged 8) developed chronic fatigue syndrome along with the classic symptoms of POTS such as dizziness and brain fog, he too ended up in bed many days and ended up missing months of school.

With little advice or expertise available on the NHS I did my own research and put it into practice. As I regained my energy I became fascinated about how we make our energy, what can go wrong with it and what we can do to get it back again. Along the way I changed career and retrained as a nutritional therapist. I discovered that chronic fatigue conditions such as ME/CFS and long covid have the same underlying physiological root causes as mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disease. There is a biological explanation and there are changes in biomarkers such as inflammation, blood sugar, insulin other hormones and gut markers too. The good news is that these root causes can be addressed with relatively simple changes in diet and stress management. I'm a big believer in reconnecting ourselves to the basic principles of human evolution and how we are designed to live including how we need to eat to thrive as a species. It is not rocket science and we can easily make a plan that will work for you and your situation.
I now use my knowledge and expertise to help others learn how to beat chronic fatigue, how to get back both physical and mental energy balance, how to put autoimmune condition into remission and simply feel better!
Recovery is possible
I hope my story gives you hope that it is possible to not only get well again, but really thrive, to get back more energy and vitality than you thought was possible.
My son and I are both fully well again and we love our sport. I climb the Scottish mountains and regular go bike packing and back packing. Not only did I get rid of all my symptoms but my energy is now better than before I was ill.
I'm lucky to live on the beautiful west coast of Scotland where I have a large garden, I grow my own fruit and vegetables and have a lovely flock of hens. I'm a real foodie, I love creating delicious dishes and treating myself to the occasional meal out. I love to spend time in nature, simply sitting in a wood or watching our local wildlife like the otters and red squirrels. I like nothing better than to sit in the sun with a coffee or huddle round a fire while the sun sets and the stars begin to appear. I feel at my best connecting with nature and eating real whole food as nature designed.
